freedom, justice for all – Words' End

freedom, justice for all

While we’re saving the Iraqis from themselves by bombing, shooting, imprisoning and humiliating them, people residing in the U.S. keep slaves.

There’s just so little good news lately, you know?

  1. No, I actually posted about it before you did: the LJ RSS feed picks up new posts only every so often. Just a coincidence. :)

  2. The article doesn’t mention another threat used by employers: Punishment for being in the country without a valid visa. Most of these people (not always women) don’t know the exact intricacies of how they entered the country. By being told that if they tried to leave, the police will call INS and have them jailed for being in the country, the employers effectively prevent them from even trying to search out help. And with the current state of immigration laws, it seems a credible threat. Why exchange one prison for another?
