Mouse whoa. – Words' End

Mouse whoa.

Never advertise having done a book review on your blog unless you’re prepared to have the book’s author respond. I will take up Espen’s quibble soon, as it’s actually an important question with regard to further work that I’m doing on the subject of literary study and its methodologies.

In the meantime: it’s confirmed, there are mice in my apartment. Before I resort to poison, I wonder if anyone knows of a way to get rid of mice without killing them. Are there scents that mice really dislike? Any suggestions?

  1. My dad used to drop books on them from a great height. That’s when he wasn’t shooting them from the couch with an airpistol. Effective but probably too fatal for your tastes.

  2. Well, those no-kill traps trap the mice, upon which they squeak and squeak until freed. And you have to pick up the trap, take it outside, and release the mice. *shudder*

    Give me the old fashioned cheese-on-a-trap anyday.

  3. I’ve heard that they don’t like cloves, but I found one nesting in a sock in a drawer next to (you guessed it) a little paper bag full of cloves.

    The best way to get rid of mice is to keep them from getting into your house. This involves inspecting the house for little holes and plugging up the holes with steel wool (which they won’t chew through). This was a pain in the ass, but worth doing. We haven’t seen any mice in the house in the two years since we did it.

  4. sadly, editing past journal entries makes them all show up again on my friends page.
    (just in case you weren’t aware of that :}
