The electromyography showed no nerve damage. woot! This means that what I have is painful tendonitis, and not carpal tunnel syndrome. No surgery necessary, etc.
So, I’m checking out voice recognition software. Dragon only seems to be available for Windows, but that same company makes ViaVoice for Mac OS X. Anyone know anything good/bad about it? Or – have you heard of other OS X voice recognition software you can recommend?

This is the other one-I’ve heard good and bad things about it over the last few years, but I’m not sure where it stands now.

Glad yer arms are OK, BTW!

Surfing in from elsewhere (friends of friends of friends) and hope you don’t mind me saying here: I’m a hands-free computer user (well, mostly hands-free, and for several years I was entirely hands-free). For dictating e-mail, prose, and generally plain English text, ViaVoice is fine. But for hands-free computer use, if you don’t want to be frustrated and angry all the time, there’s nothing else on the retail market that works like Dragon NaturallySpeaking. Which, yes, ties you to Windows. Sucks, doesn’t it?
I hope your hands are still feeling better. Be careful! Not that medical science understands yet, but there seems to be an in-between place which is neither nerve damage nor soft tissue damage (such as tendinitis).
On the bright side, NaturallySpeaking is a fantastic product.
