For dictating e-mail, prose, and generally plain English text, ViaVoice is fine. But for hands-free computer use, if you don’t want to be frustrated and angry all the time, there’s nothing else on the retail market that works like Dragon NaturallySpeaking. Which, yes, ties you to Windows. Sucks, doesn’t it?

I hope your hands are still feeling better. Be careful! Not that medical science understands yet, but there seems to be an in-between place which is neither nerve damage nor soft tissue damage (such as tendinitis).

On the bright side, NaturallySpeaking is a fantastic product.
