RSSing it
Just downloaded NetNewsWire, which seems like a nice gadget for blog reading.
Oh, the tragedy! Fully half of the bloggers I want to read put only excerpts of their blogs into their RSS feeds. So I actually have to click on the link to the entry, if I want to read the whole entry.
I’d really rather not, in most cases. There are many people (including myself) who make the full entries, including images and/or comments (that last one I should really figure out), available through syndication. Is there a good reason not to do it?

But if I wanted to just FEED you I’d put the groceries out on the footpath instead of cooking you a meal and inviting you to sit at my table!

Yes yes, well, I’d like to have a choice, please. :) A good example of why I’d want to read someone’s blog in my own reader is if their site design is not to my liking. Asking them to change the design, be it too busy, font not contrasty enough with the background or whatnot, is silly; so I’d like to just quietly read what these people actually post in an environment that doesn’t make me cringe.

Now that I’ve used it for a couple of hours, I see a definite benefit to RSSing, say, Liz Lawley’s blog: she syndicates comments too, and I’ve got my software set up to mark individual entries as unread when they have been edited. So I can actually follow the comments people make on her blog, and not miss them!

What I see in some RSS feeds on LJ (see jasra_weblog) is a link to the comments. I want that.
